Great Trinity Forest Adventure Hike Returns to Rochester Park!

On Saturday, January 30, bundle up the family and bring them to the forest without leaving town to participate in the 4th Annual Great Trinity Forest Adventure Hike. This year’s event is a collaboration between the North Texas Orienteering Association and the Trinity River Corridor Project with CH2M Hill returning for the second year as the Special Event Sponsor.

CH2M Hill will fund all the logistics and marketing support for the event. CH2M Hill provides engineering solutions without boundaries and they are a global leader in full service construction, engineering and operations. In lieu of holiday parties, this corporate leader decided to give back to the environment throughout the world.

City Calendar Featuring Trinity River Corridor –
Now Online

Due to budget considerations, the 2010 City of Dallas Calendar and Annual Progress Report will not be printed this year. However, both publications are now available on-line on the City’s home page at www.dallascityhall.com.
 
This year’s calendar features the winning photographs selected out of the 350 images entered into the Trinity River Photo Contest. The images in this calendar reflect how locals see the Trinity -- through their eyes and their camera lenses. The City saw the contest as an opportunity to make a difference in a number of ways: to encourage people to get outdoors and experience the amazing natural resources we have in Dallas, to provide a fun and easy project for school age children during the summer months, to showcase the Trinity River Corridor Project, and to help photographically document the vast area this project encompasses because changes are coming to many of these locations in months ahead.

Get Ready To Be Counted in 2010!

In March, begin looking for the 2010 Census form. When you receive it at your home, do not delay, fill out the quick and easy form and return it via mail to the designated address. The goal is to count everyone by the deadline which is April 1, 2010. Keep in mind, the questionnaire responses should represent the household as it exists when you receive the form.

Every year, more than $400 billion in federal funds are awarded to states and communities based on census data. The number equates to more than $4 trillion distributed over the 10-year period between census counts. Help Texas get its fair share!

“The census numbers we take and submit to the president on December 31, 2010 is the total we must work with for the next 10 years!” stated Councilmember Pauline Medrano. She is the National Census Advisory Committee Vice Chair for this census.
