A Fisherman’s Dream – Carpe Diem!
On Friday, November 6, 2009, mark your calendar to join the fun on the Trinity River and sign up for Carpe Diem. This urban fishing adventure makes a big splash in the City.
“If you have not had a chance to experience a day on the river, don’t miss the opportunity to kick back and enjoy a day off with ‘ole Man River’,” said Mike Wyatt, founder and chairman of this novelty event. The river is up and the fish are biting! It was reported in the news recently, that a 45 pound flathead catfish was caught and released.
Spearheaded by Dallas businessman Mike Wyatt, the City of Dallas Trinity River Corridor project and the Trinity Commons Foundation, canoes will be launched at Trammell Crow Park at 3700 Sylvan Avenue, Dallas, TX 75207. Contestants will end the day at Little Lemmon Lake (I-45 & Loop 12 Ramp).
Float your own boat for $200 or team up with a canoe rental for $350. The day includes continental breakfast, caps and T-shirts. Also bring along a camera and your favorite secret recipe for bait. Proceeds of the event go to The Trinity Commons Foundation.
1st Boat Launch – 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
2nd Boat Launch – 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
"The river needs to be viewed as a resource -- not a detriment," Wyatt said. "We need to start changing the mindset of people so they see the Trinity as a natural resource in the heart of our city.”
